There was I

Outside the Old Blue Last

When fears and doubts

Started to cross my mind

I turned my back to the pub

And disconnected from it's crowd

Leaning on a barrier

looking at the street

Seeing the cars passing by

I lost it for a second

It might be just human nature

Without wings we cannot fly

I saw the bridge

Starting to fall apart

And the demons dancing around me

Chanting, "you won't get far"

I'm afraid we might never

Get to the other side

I want the smoke from my cigarette to clear

And the alcohol in my drink to purify

For there might be no tomorrow

And when the present brings me sorrow

My soul is paused in desolation

I want to scream throughout the nations

But I just can't see the light
